How it works
-
01
Identify
Photograph a stone and LORE gives you the closest matches — with what it actually saw in your photograph, the alternatives worth ruling out, and a physical test that separates them. Prefer to stay offline? Identify by Features narrows the guide from your own observations, entirely on your iPhone.
-
02
Learn
Every stone has one page, and it holds two things: what it is — family, hardness, how it forms, where it comes from — and what people have thought it means, across the cultures that valued it.
-
03
Collect
Keep what you find. Stones you identify are saved with your own photograph and the day you found them, so the collection becomes a record rather than a list of bookmarks.
-
04
Explore
Browse the other way round — by what you need today. Courage, calm, focus, grounding. Each opens onto the stones traditionally associated with it, and the pairs that have long been kept together.
When it isn’t sure, it says so
LORE covers a curated set of stones rather than every mineral on Earth. When nothing in the guide is close enough, it tells you that instead of returning the nearest guess — and an identification it couldn’t make doesn’t count against your free ones. Every result shows its confidence, the traits it matched on, and what else it might be.
Pricing
The guide is free. All sixty stones, the lore, the qualities, the pairs and your collection — none of it is gated, and the free tier includes three identifications.
LORE+ is a one-time $9.99 purchase — no subscription, no renewals — that unlocks unlimited identifications.
What it isn’t
Not a geology textbook and not a crystal-healing app. Symbolism is recorded as folklore and cultural history — what people have associated with a stone — never as an effect, and never as medical advice. There is no account, no feed, no streaks, and nothing to join. You don’t have to believe in crystals to find their stories fascinating.
